Privacy policy

This site collects very little. Here is exactly what, and why.

1. Who we are

The controller is Melker Eckerström, Norrköping, Sweden, publishing as RENAVID. Contact: hello@renavid.com.

2. What we collect and why

  • Your email address, if you subscribe to the letter. We use it to send the letter and for nothing else. Legal basis: your consent, which you give by subscribing, and can withdraw at any time.
  • Page counts. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. It records the page, the referrer, the country, the browser and the device type as aggregate figures; it does not follow you across sites. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.
  • Server logs. Our host, Vercel, records requests (IP address, browser, time, page) to run and protect the service. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating the site securely.
  • Cookies: none. The site sets no cookies. If you choose a reading theme on an article, that choice is stored in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us. If you arrive by a link that carries campaign parameters (utm_source and the like), those are kept in your browser for the visit (session storage) and sent along with your email address if you subscribe, so we know which post brought you. They are not sent otherwise. A completed sign-up is counted once in the same cookieless analytics, with the source but not your address.

3. Who processes it

  • beehiiv (USA) sends the letter and stores subscriber addresses. beehiiv may record whether a letter was opened and which links were clicked. Transfers are covered by EU standard contractual clauses.
  • Vercel (USA) hosts the site, serves the analytics script and keeps the server logs. Transfers are covered by EU standard contractual clauses.

We do not sell or share personal data with anyone else.

4. How long

Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Server logs and analytics figures are kept by Vercel for a limited period as part of running the service.

5. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can withdraw consent at any time, via the unsubscribe link in every letter or by writing to hello@renavid.com. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se).

6. Changes

We update this page when anything above changes, and change the date at the top.
